Charcoal Mug
Charcoal Mug
A handmade, wheel thrown mug in a charcoal coloured glaze.
Thrown in a white stoneware clay and glazed by myself in my studio in mid Devon.
Care: Dishwasher safe.
Dimensions: 8.5cm W x 9cm H
Volume: 350ml
Making process:
All of my pottery is handmade in my rural farm studio just outside of Exeter, Devon in the southwest of England. I use a white, high fire stoneware clay.
Firstly the body of the pot is thrown on the wheel using the white clay. After a couple of days (weather dependent), the clay will have dried to a “leather-hard” state and can be turned and handled.
Once the piece is “bone dry” (this is called “greenware”) it is fired to 1000 degrees Celsius. The piece is dipped in my own handmade glazes and fired to 1270 degrees Celsius in my electric kiln.
